Stress & Anxiety

Acupuncture is a popular therapy that may help alleviate stress, anxiety, and other mental health issues. Research suggests that acupuncture can stimulate the nervous system to release natural painkillers and other chemicals that can promote relaxation, reduce stress, and improve mood.

Numerous studies have investigated the effects of acupuncture on stress and anxiety, with many showing promising results. One review of 27 studies found that acupuncture can significantly reduce anxiety levels in people with a variety of conditions, including generalized anxiety disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and depression. Another study found that acupuncture was just as effective as cognitive-behavioral therapy in reducing anxiety levels in patients with generalized anxiety disorder.

Additionally, a study published in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine found that acupuncture was effective in reducing both state and trait anxiety in healthy adults. Participants who received acupuncture reported feeling less anxious both immediately after the treatment and two weeks later.

It's important to note that acupuncture should not be used as a substitute for conventional medical treatment for mental health conditions. However, it can be a useful adjunct therapy for managing symptoms and improving overall well-being.
